Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates — Vertical UPRT is pleased to announce that it has been granted Approved Training Organisation (ATO) status, authorising the launch of Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT) in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

This milestone positions Vertical UPRT as the first dedicated providers of Advanced UPRT in the region, supporting regulatory mandates and strengthening flight safety across the GCC and wider Middle East.

The certification process has been extensive and rigorous, and Vertical UPRT acknowledges the support and professionalism of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in achieving this approval.

Addressing One of Aviation’s Highest-Risk Areas

Loss of Control in Flight (LOC-I) remains the leading cause of fatal aviation accidents worldwide. Advanced UPRT directly addresses this risk by equipping pilots with the knowledge, hands-on skills, and confidence required to recognise, avoid, and recover from aircraft upsets.

Vertical UPRT’s programme is aligned with regulatory mandate requirements and supports instructor qualification standards such as CAR FCL.745.A, providing airline operators, business jet operators, and private pilots with access to highly specialised training in the region.

Industry-Leading Training Capability in the GCC

Vertical UPRT offers a full Advanced UPRT syllabus conducted in the Extra 330, one of the most capable aircraft globally for upset training. The organisation’s instructors are senior aviation professionals with extensive airline, general aviation, aerobatic, and instructional backgrounds.

Key advantages of training with Vertical UPRT include:

  • Highly experienced airline and professional instructors
  • Training delivered on advanced aerobatic aircraft (Extra 330)
  • Operational convenience within the GCC
  • Cost efficiency compared with overseas training in the USA or Europe
  • Predictable weather conditions and year-round flying capability
  • Uncongested training airspace ideally suited for advanced manoeuvre training
  • Time-efficient scheduling for operators and individual pilots

Course Structure and Training Philosophy

The Advanced UPRT programme is delivered over three days and includes:

  • Five hours of dedicated ground school
  • Aerodynamics and performance refresher training
  • In-depth upset recognition theory
  • Three hours of in-air scenario-based training
  • Practical recovery techniques across multiple flight regimes

The course is non-jeopardy by design. There is no “pass or fail” outcome, and no type rating is required. The focus is on competency, understanding aircraft limitations, and building structured recovery procedures that pilots can rely on under pressure.

Upon completion, participants receive formal certification confirming Advanced UPRT training.

Open for Enrolments

Vertical UPRT is now accepting enrolments from:

  • Airlines
  • Business jet and corporate operators
  • Charter and commercial pilots
  • Private and owner-operators
  • Training organisations requiring instructor standardisation

Looking Ahead

Captain Wayne Jack, Founder & CEO of Vertical AUPRT and Senior Instructor / Examiner, commented:

“We are very pleased and privileged to be at the forefront of this critical advanced flight safety training. The launch of Advanced UPRT at Vertical represents another first for the UAE and the wider region.

Our mission is clear — to equip pilots with the skills, confidence, and decision-making capability required to prevent loss of control events before they escalate. By delivering structured, professional Advanced UPRT training in the region, we are helping operators and individual pilots access world-class safety training without the cost and disruption of traveling overseas.”
